Main Qualifications

·       Bachelor or Master degree in Geological Engineering

·       Min. 3 years experience in related field

·       Required computer skills: Maptek Vulcan, Leapfrog, Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, DataShed

·       Ability to communicate effectively with mining and planning departments

·       Be able make technical presentations to management

·       Analytical thinking, enthusiastic, self motivated

·       Good command of written and spoken English

·       Must have a valid driver’s licence

·       No military obligation for male candidates

·       Technical knowledge:

-       Basic Sampling & Sample QAQC theory and practical application;

-       Basic Ore Control markout & Ore Spotting practices;

-       Basic knowledge of Blast Hole and RC Drill Rig operations and safety;

-       Basic knowledge and ability to log drill core and RC chips;

-       Basic structural, geotechnical, lithological and alteration mapping knowledge and skills;

-       Ability to generate pit maps on paper plans and desirably digitally through use of software;

-       Introductory knowledge of Vulcan Mine Planning software grade control functions;

-       Understanding of Epithermal and Porphyry gold systems;

-       Basic knowledge of resource modelling and estimation as applied to grade control;

-       Knowledge of Excel and Datashed DB data entry and query functions

Job Description

Day to day open pit grade control functions including – mapping; generating ore control maps; supervision of ore control workers; sampling, drill rig supervision; support and supervision for ore mining and dispatch; data entry and reporting.

·       Undertake geological logging of blast holes and mapping of pit walls and convenient production faces

·       Undertake mapping of pit walls and production faces to contribute to the development and update of the geological model

·       Undertake the construction of 3D Geological and Ore Control models

·       Undertake preparing of the grade control maps for production zones in timely manner

·       Actively participate in transfering all Mine Geology data into database

·       Ensure the markout of grade control designs by Ore Control Workers

·       Guide relevant persons in ore spotting (ensuring maximum ore recovery and minimal dilution of ore)

·       Assist Sr. Mine Geologist and Mine Geology Superintendent in the achievement of site-wide and Mine Geology Department goals and objectives

·       Assist in Improvement of drill patterns, monitoring of drillers and supervision of sampling

·       Undertake preparing of work and holiday schedules of Ore Control Workers, and help resolve their work related issues

·       Oversee samples’ labeling, transportation and submission to laboratory

·       Provide and assist inputs into monthly reports in timely manner

·       Assist in the generation of new production or exploration targets

·       Perform weekly safety meetings with department staff
