Senior System & Network Specialist

We are looking for a Senior System & Network Specialist:

An engineer who owns the infrastructure end-to-end, from the firewall policy to the hypervisor to the backup restore test. This is a broad, senior role with genuine architectural ownership — not a ticket queue.

What you will do

Network

• Design, deploy and operate enterprise LAN and WLAN infrastructure (switching, wireless controllers, access points)
• Manage Cisco and Fortinet firewall platforms: rule lifecycle, policy optimization, site-to-site and SSL VPN tunnels
• Operate data center switching and WAN connectivity — MPLS, SD-WAN, ISP links and redundancy
• Configure and troubleshoot dynamic routing (BGP, OSPF), VLAN, STP, HSRP/VRRP and QoS
• Implement network access control (802.1X / NAC) and network segmentation

Systems, virtualization and cloud

• Own the design, deployment and operation of Windows and Linux server infrastructure
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, certificate services and patch management
• Administer Linux servers (RHEL / CentOS / Ubuntu) including web and application workloads
• Operate and optimize VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter, HA/DRS, vMotion) and Microsoft Hyper-V with Failover Clustering
• Manage Microsoft 365 and Azure services: Exchange Online, Entra ID, Intune, hybrid identity and Azure IaaS
• Manage workloads on AWS and/or Google Cloud

Continuity, automation and hardware

• Own backup and disaster recovery: backup policies, restore testing, DR drills, RTO/RPO targets
• Build and maintain monitoring and alerting (Zabbix / PRTG / Grafana) and automate recurring work with PowerShell and Bash
• Manage storage and server hardware — SAN/NAS, RAID, HPE/Dell server platforms, firmware lifecycle

Leadership

• Mentor junior system and network engineers, define standards and operational procedures, review technical designs
• Lead capacity planning, performance tuning, migration and infrastructure improvement projects
• Maintain up-to-date topology and system documentation and operational runbooks

What we are looking for

This role sits at the intersection of network and system engineering, and both sides are core requirements — not one plus a little of the other.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering or a related field
• Minimum 8 years of infrastructure experience, covering both network and system administration at a senior level

Network (required)

• Strong practical experience with Cisco (Catalyst / Nexus switching, ISR-ASR routing, ASA / FTD) and Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiAnalyzer)
• Solid command of routing and switching fundamentals: BGP, OSPF, VLAN, STP, VRRP/HSRP, NAT, QoS
• Practical firewall and VPN experience — policy design, troubleshooting, traffic analysis
• Experience with data center networking and WAN / SD-WAN technologies
• Comfortable with packet-level troubleshooting (Wireshark or equivalent)
• CCNA certification is required; CCNP is a strong plus

Systems (required)

• Strong command of both Windows Server and Linux environments
• Deep hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V
• Solid experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure (Exchange Online, Entra ID, Intune, hybrid identity)
• Working experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud
• Proven ownership of backup and disaster recovery (Veeam, Commvault or equivalent), including tested restore and DR procedures
• Experience with monitoring platforms and automation through PowerShell and/or Bash scripting
• Experience with SAN/NAS storage and enterprise server hardware

General

• Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and establishing operational standards
• Good command of written and spoken English (vendor documentation and support cases)
• Class B driving licence
• For male candidates: military service completed or deferred for at least 2 years
• Structured, documentation-driven, analytical, and calm under pressure

Nice to have

• CCNP, Fortinet NSE
• VMware VCP, Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-104 and above), MCSA / MCSE, Red Hat RHCSA / RHCE, AWS Solutions Architect
• Cisco DNA Center or Meraki experience
• Automation and IaC experience (Python, Ansible, Terraform)
• ITIL foundation-level knowledge of service management processes
