QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Description:

We seek a talented Crude Oil Tanker Operator for our Suezmax fleet. You will be based in the İstanbul branch office.

We are a global player and sometimes the regular office hours are adapted to business, customers or simply to support a colleague who needs assistance.

“Tanker Operator” will be able to do the following and take the workload by sharing work under the management of the Tanker Operations Manager.

 

Competence:

-Advanced knowledge of English, having successful written and verbal communication skills and being able to bargain/negotiate.

-Advanced knowledge of Excel & Good use of the computer (Microsoft applications, AMOS and other ERPs, etc.).

-ERP experience is a plus.

-Being good at Organizing, Coordinating, and Communicating with 3rd parties(agencies, brokers, charterers, etc.)

-Ability to forge working relationships internally and with external parties at all levels.

-Being inclined to learn, teamwork, and open to personal and team development.

-Knowing the dynamics of the maritime market and the actors.

-Having no obstacles to being employed in the Company’s Istanbul Office and residing in Istanbul.

-Having completed military service, if any.

*** Minimum of one year of vessel operations experience is a plus.

 *** Preferably, having knowledge of ship charter parties.

*** Preferably, having knowledge about import-export transactions and documents.

*** Preferably, having knowledge about the bill of lading and consignment law.

*** Previous sea experience is an advantage.


Responsibilities, Duties and Authorizations:

Voyage Fixtures

-Assisting the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at all load fixtures, pre-fixture and clearance requirements.

-Keeping all of the ship's P&I Club, Defense Club and H&M Insurance certificate record up to date on ERP(AMOS) and Q88.com.

-In addition, keeping the special certificate registrations for countries on ERP “ie; Anchorage Dues, NMFTA (SCAC), US Certificate of Compliance (COC), US COFR - US ICB renewal” (communication with the firm receiving service for this purpose).

-Calculating the minimum fuel amounts required by the ship for the voyage to be connected and reporting it to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

- Providing all the parameter values needed for the "Cargo intake/Draft" calculations of the ships.

- Informing the other departments of the Company about “on subjects” or “fixed” services. Evaluating the needs of the departments' shipbuilding/maintenance/service/personnel/visitor and the logistic factors (time, cost) needed for it with the help of the Logistics Specialist and communicating it to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). Being a bridge between Technical and Commercial Enterprise.

- Receiving post-fixture requirements and voyage orders from the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and the Broker, and ensuring/following that the company/ship is commercially and operationally covered throughout the voyage.

- Ensuring communication between ships and shore at all operational points.

- Being in contact with worldwide agents, brokers, charterers, surveyors and any third party that will affect the port time of the ship. Keeping a record of contact details of contact persons, updating this record.

- Following closely loading/unloading operations. Ensuring that the necessary coordination is established so that cargo operations can be completed without problems.

- Tracking the position and speed of the ships, recording all shipboard events and all ship needs, and reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

- Informing the Company's departments and Brokers about the latest status of the ship.

- Collecting performance (lost time) data and/or event information or information about each voyage. Recording all this information and presenting them on request.

- Observing, following, unmet demands, requirements or receiving Letters of Protest (LOP) regarding voyage fixtures, and when necessary, coordinating with other departments and ensuring that they are responded to.


Agencies and Cargo&Bunker Surveyors

- Negotiating with the agencies on Disbursement Accounts and checking the final accounts.

- Assigning agents in the ports and sending instructions.

- Assigning Load Quantity/Quality Surveyors and sending instructions.

- Checking all invoices and expenses related to operations.


Claims

- Calculating the claims such as Demurrage, Deviation, Interim Port, Additional War Risk Premium, Port Charges, and additional voyage claims to the charterers’ account (additional heating, speed up charges, etc.).

-  Negotiating to claim disputes and consulting the P&I Club when necessary.

- Providing feedback to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) regarding the changes to be made on the items of Charterparties.

 

ERP

- Being responsible for the complete documentation of all revenue and expenses related to the voyage as well as the entry into ERP systems.

- Ensuring that all of the voyage parameters (port information, ports of supply, etc., all ports, agencies, supply companies, etc.) are fully entered into the ERP system.

- Acquiring cargo information (conformity to COW, heating requirements, densities, etc.) and sending it to the relevant vessel and other departments.


The job interview will be conducted in English to demonstrate your proficiency in the language.

The interview process consists of two parts: a written assessment and a verbal interview. The written assessment will test your knowledge and skills in the relevant field of work. The verbal interview will evaluate your communication abilities and personality fit. 

The interview is expected to last about 90 minutes in total.
