Position Overview: Responsible for the safeguarding of hotel property, assets, guests, visitors, and employees. Give direction to Security Guards as needed on specific shifts. The Director of Security is responsible for all daily aspects of Safety and Security services while on duty. The Director of Security will provide the support, training, and tools the Security Guards require to fulfill their job requirements. All responsibilities shall be carried out in a timely, accurate, and professional manner, in accordance with YOTEL’s core values. Key Relationships: - Internal: Mission and Ground Control, Sales, Revenue, Housekeeping, Accounting, Maintenance, IT, Owner Representatives and YOTEL Home Office staff. - External: YOTEL guests/visitors, other hotel personnel and vendors/suppliers. Major Duties & Responsibilities: - Recruit, hire, train and provide career development for Security Guards; conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback for employees. - Conduct walk through of property to ensure the safety of guests and employees and to protect all hotel assets. - Answer house calls, assist guests and employee’s safety and security in hotel operations. - Initiate and follow-up all investigations of crimes committed against property and persons. - Present completed investigations to General Manager. Assist sick and injured guests and employees, ensuring documentation and disposition of reports, assist in all training of Security staff and hotel staff. - Check all alarm systems, surveillance systems, monitor key control systems, safety and fire equipment systems and closely monitor security of building doors, service areas and delivery areas. - Ensure a Fire Safety Director (FSD) is on duty and in place at all times. - Prepare and send after shift reports to the hotel management team. - Respond to fire alarms, report to Fire Command Station and act as liaison between the hotel and Fire Department. - Take control of all fire emergencies and evacuate the hotel if necessary. - Ensure that all Security Guards are performing their duties as per standard operating procedures. - Coach and Council Security Guards and remove from property if found not to be performing duties as per standard operating procedures. - Obtain coverage when Security Guard calls out sick. - Determine issues concerning guests, for example: ejecting guests, applying monetary fines, contacting police department when necessary. - Attend morning stand up meeting with all other departments. - Conduct department pre-shift meetings. - Train the security team on department standard operating procedures. - Oversee Security Guards on specified shifts, ensuring proper attire (designated hotel uniform), reporting to duty on time and providing proper coverage of hotel and grounds. - Conduct key re-set of entire property if master keys are lost. - Monitor compliance of key controls. - Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be revised from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. - The Director of Security may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. - Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is mandatory. - Assist in the review and compiling of records, reports, and statistics necessary for complete and accurate records, including the shift activity log, code book, and the daily shift summary. - Perform any special guest requests, making sure that they are properly executed. - Inspect the performance of all Guards on your shift. - Additional duties as necessary and assigned by the General Manager. - Work in co-ordination with Airport Security Managers. Skills/Qualifications: - Ability to read and speak English fluently. Second or multiple languages are a plus. - Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. - Knowledge of and ability to operate computers and various property specific applications. - Knowledge of airport safety rules and regulations for both airside & landside. - Knowledge of hotel policy and fire safety procedures. - Ability to operate the hotel’s public address system. - Minimum of three years’ security management related background required or five plus years security officer background. - Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits. - First Aid training required. - Uphold the highest standards of YOTEL Istanbul New Airport and business culture. - Maintain a friendly & cohesive work environment with crew, internal departments & guests. Essential Physical Abilities: - Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, such as reaching, bending and stooping. - Ability to grasp, push or pull heavy loads, and lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, and boxes weighing up to 75 lbs. continuously throughout shift. - Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions. - Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances on property. - Ability to lift, bend, stoop, push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 50 lbs. - Good physical condition.
