Procurement Engineer

Position Summary

We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to manage the technical and commercial sourcing, development, qualification, and performance of suppliers for production materials, mechanical components, raw materials, and outsourced manufacturing processes.

The role combines strong mechanical/material engineering knowledge with procurement expertise, taking ownership of strategic sourcing, supplier development, localization, cost improvement, and industrialization activities in close cooperation with Engineering, Quality, Production, Logistics, and Global Procurement teams.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, develop, and qualify local and international suppliers for mechanical components, raw materials, tooling, and outsourced manufacturing processes.
• Lead supplier evaluation from technical and commercial perspectives, including manufacturing capability, capacity, quality, cost, lead time, and supply risks.
• Review and evaluate technical drawings, materials, specifications, tolerances, and manufacturing processes together with suppliers and internal Engineering teams.
• Manage RFQ and supplier-selection processes, perform technical/commercial comparisons, and lead negotiations covering price, payment terms, lead time, tooling, capacity, and supply conditions.
• Drive cost-reduction and localization initiatives through cost analysis, benchmarking, alternative suppliers, materials/processes, and value-engineering activities.
• Lead supplier development and industrialization from initial sourcing through samples, trials, validation, approval, ramp-up, and serial production.
• Conduct supplier visits, technical assessments, process audits, and performance reviews, ensuring improvement and corrective actions are effectively implemented.
• Monitor supplier performance and supply risks regarding quality, delivery, capacity, cost, and OTIF, and develop appropriate mitigation and alternative-sourcing actions.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Production, Logistics, and Global Procurement on new product, engineering-change, sourcing, and supplier-development activities.
• Maintain procurement data and prepare cost, savings, supplier-performance, sourcing, and project reports using ERP/SAP and relevant reporting tools.
• Perform other procurement and supplier-development activities related to the position as requested by the supervisor.
