About the Role

We are seeking a motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented Finance Specialist to join our growing shipowning company. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career finance professional to gain hands-on experience across financial reporting, treasury, corporate finance, commodity trade finance, and shipping operations.

Working closely with the Finance Manager and senior leadership, you will support the company's financial operations, banking relationships, financing activities, and reporting processes while developing your expertise in the maritime and shipping industry.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, and reconciliations while ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements.

Budgeting & Financial Planning: Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cash flow reporting by preparing financial data and analytical reports.

Treasury Operations: Assist in daily treasury activities, cash position monitoring, payment processing, bank reconciliations, and liquidity management.

Corporate Financing Support: Assist with bank loan documentation, financing applications, lender reporting, covenant monitoring, and communication with financial institutions.

Commodity Trade Finance: Support trade finance transactions, including letters of credit, bank guarantees, documentary collections, and other trade finance instruments used in commodity transactions.

Shipping Finance Support: Assist in monitoring vessel operating expenses, capital expenditures, voyage-related costs, and other shipping finance activities.

Compliance & Process Improvement: Support internal controls, audit processes, tax filings, and continuous improvement of financial reporting and operational processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Accounting, Operations, Chartering, Legal, and external stakeholders including banks, auditors, and financial institutions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• 1–2 years of professional experience in finance, accounting, treasury, audit, banking, or corporate finance.
• Internship experience in banking, commodity trading, shipping, or financial institutions will be considered an advantage.
• Basic understanding of financial reporting, accounting principles, and corporate finance.
• Exposure to trade finance, banking operations, or loan documentation is considered an advantage.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems is preferred.
• Experience in the maritime or shipping industry is an advantage but not required.
