Postdoctoral Researcher Position

We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the fields of biotechnology, microbiology and antimicrobial resistance.

We are seeking a highly motivated researcher with strong expertise in the microbiological applications of biotechnology, particularly in the evaluation and development of novel therapeutic approaches against antibiotic-resistant and multidrug-resistant bacteria.

Research Focus

The candidate is expected to contribute to ongoing and future research projects focusing on innovative strategies to combat antimicrobial resistance. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Evaluation of nanoparticles and nanotechnology-based antimicrobial approaches
• Novel therapeutic strategies against antibiotic-resistant bacteria
• Alternative or adjunctive treatments for multidrug-resistant bacterial infections
• Experimental models for evaluating antimicrobial efficacy
• Translational and interdisciplinary research in infectious diseases

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and conduct independent research projects in the field of antimicrobial resistance and novel therapeutic approaches
• Contribute to ongoing research programs at the Koç University İşbank Center for Infectious Diseases
• Take an active role in collaborative projects with departments, centers, and external institutions
• Develop new project ideas and contribute to grant applications
• Perform laboratory-based microbiology experiments
• Analyze experimental data and prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
• Present research findings at national and international conferences
• Contribute to the supervision, training, and mentoring of MSc and PhD students
• Support laboratory training activities and educational programs
• Participate actively in the daily operation, organization, and continuity of the research laboratory
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams within and outside the university

Required Qualifications

• A PhD degree in microbiology, biotechnology, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, or a closely related field
• Research experience in microbiology and/or biotechnology, preferably with a focus on antimicrobial resistance
• Hands-on experience with antibiotic-resistant or multidrug-resistant bacteria
• Experience in nanoparticle-based antimicrobial research, nanobiotechnology, or other novel therapeutic strategies against bacterial infections
• Experience in antimicrobial susceptibility testing, biofilm assays, and bacterial killing assays
• Experience in grant writing, project development, and/or preparation of research proposals
• A strong publication record in peer-reviewed international journals
• At least two publications in reputable journals in relevant research areas
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Strong experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team
• Strong organizational skills and a responsible approach to laboratory work
• Commitment to high standards of research ethics, biosafety, and scientific integrity

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in molecular microbiology techniques
• Previous involvement in interdisciplinary or translational research projects
• Experience in project coordination and collaboration with internal and external research groups
• Experience in mentoring graduate students or junior researchers
• Familiarity with laboratory management, biosafety procedures, and research infrastructure organization
