International Infrastructure & Construction Project

We are seeking an experienced Biodiversity & Ecology Specialist to monitor ecological impacts and implement biodiversity protection measures on a large-scale international infrastructure and construction project. This is a field-based specialist role for someone who wants to directly influence how the project avoids and mitigates ecological impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct and coordinate ecological field surveys and flora and fauna monitoring.

• Implement biodiversity management plans and relevant species and habitat protection measures.

• Undertake pre-construction ecological checks and advise on sensitive areas, access restrictions and seasonal constraints.

• Monitor construction activities near sensitive habitats and identify potential ecological impacts.

• Work with construction teams to apply avoidance, mitigation and restoration measures.

• Verify the implementation of ecological commitments by contractors.

• Maintain field records, survey results and biodiversity monitoring data.

• Report ecological incidents and recommend corrective actions.

• Deliver biodiversity awareness briefings to site personnel.

• Coordinate with environmental specialists and relevant authorities or ecological advisers where required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Engineering, Forest Engineering or a related discipline.

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience, including 5 years of specialised field experience in biodiversity and ecology.

• Strong expertise in flora and fauna survey methods and ecological impact management.

• Experience implementing biodiversity protection measures during construction.

• Ability to interpret ecological survey findings and communicate practical recommendations to site teams.

• Familiarity with applicable biodiversity legislation, permit conditions and international project requirements.

• Knowledge of the mitigation hierarchy and habitat restoration practices.

• GIS and ecological data-management skills would be advantageous.

• Good written and spoken English, including preparation of technical monitoring reports.

• Experience on international infrastructure projects and with multidisciplinary teams would be an advantage.
