Environmental and Social Manager

International Infrastructure & Construction Project

We are seeking an experienced Environmental and Social Manager to lead environmental and social management across a large-scale international infrastructure and construction project. This is a senior leadership role with direct responsibility for the project's compliance with lender and regulatory E&S requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and implement project environmental and social management plans, procedures and monitoring programmes.

• Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, permits, contractual commitments and relevant international lender requirements.

• Lead environmental and social specialists and coordinate contractor implementation across project work areas.

• Oversee environmental protection, stakeholder engagement, community impacts and grievance management.

• Review contractor plans and assess the environmental and social implications of changes to construction activities.

• Conduct management reviews and coordinate inspections, audits and corrective actions.

• Maintain effective relationships with the client, public authorities, consultants and international financial institutions.

• Prepare environmental and social performance reports and escalate significant risks, incidents and non-compliance.

• Coordinate with OHS and construction management to ensure consistent implementation of project requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Degree in Environmental Engineering, Social Sciences or a related discipline.

• Minimum 15 years of professional experience, including 10 years in environmental and social management positions on large-scale construction projects.

• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams in an international project environment.

• Strong knowledge of IFC Performance Standards, EBRD environmental and social requirements, and their practical application.

• Experience implementing environmental and social management systems and overseeing contractor compliance.

• Strong understanding of environmental impacts, community relations and social risk management.

• Experience communicating with clients, authorities and international financial institutions.

• Excellent written and spoken English, including technical reporting, presentations and formal stakeholder correspondence.

• Strong leadership, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
