International Infrastructure & Construction Project

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist to lead field monitoring, inspections and environmental compliance on a large-scale international infrastructure and construction project. This is a field-based role for a specialist who wants hands-on ownership of environmental performance on site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement environmental management plans and monitor their application across construction activities.

• Conduct site inspections and coordinate environmental sampling and monitoring programmes.

• Monitor issues such as dust, noise, water quality, wastewater, waste management and soil contamination.

• Verify compliance with applicable legislation, environmental permits and project requirements.

• Inspect chemical storage, waste handling and pollution prevention arrangements.

• Identify non-compliance, recommend corrective measures and verify completion with contractors.

• Support the investigation and reporting of spills and other environmental incidents.

• Prepare monitoring reports and maintain accurate inspection, sampling and compliance records.

• Deliver environmental awareness briefings and coordinate with construction teams to minimise impacts.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering.

• Minimum 12 years of professional experience, including 8 years of relevant field and environmental management experience on large construction projects.

• Proven expertise in environmental monitoring, site inspections and regulatory compliance.

• Experience implementing environmental management plans within an international project environment would be advantageous.

• Practical knowledge of pollution prevention, waste management and environmental incident response.

• Ability to interpret monitoring results and translate findings into practical site actions.

• Familiarity with ISO 14001 and applicable international environmental requirements.

• ISO 14001 auditor training would be an advantage.

• Good written and spoken English, including the ability to prepare technical reports and communicate with international project teams.

• Strong organisational skills and a practical approach to contractor coordination.
