Essential responsibilities and duties
The indirect purchasing buyer is responsible for all IDP activity for the assigned plants located in their region. The role of an IDP Buyer is to manage all purchasing issues in line with indirect purchasing regional and group level strategies to improve quality, cost, and delivery performance, and to contribute to or lead productivity actions.
The main missions of the role are:
- Define and manage the supplier panel. Work closely with other plants and group level IDP team to identify and implement synergies on commodities and suppliers.
- Responsible for driving cost reduction through negotiation, best practice implementation, consumption reduction, technical optimization, and standardization.
- Drive benchmarking and best practices efforts at plants across IDP commodities.
- Integrate the Indirect Purchasing needs of the region into any group level strategies.
- Define and implement a local commodity strategy if not covered by global and/or regional teams.
- Manage the implementation of corporate contracts in the plant and / or region. Ensure follow up and audits of contract compliance.
- Review and approve or reject Purchase Orders within IDP scope.
- Manage and implement price agreements and resolve discrepancies between Purchase Order and invoice prices.
- Support New Program launches and all associated IDP requirements to achieve project timing and cost objectives.
- Apply methodology and common IDP tools such as: database for contract management, use of e-RFI, e-RFQ, and e-auction, proper application of SAP purchasing modules and application of all relevant Procedures.
- Stay abreast of market conditions and trends (including global pricing benchmarks) to inform strategy and ensure supply continuity.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have/be :
Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Business
Nice to have: Professional Purchasing Qualification
Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in purchasing in an industrial environment
- Experience of successfully managing and negotiating contracts
Nice to have:
- Automotive experience would be an advantage
- Experience in purchasing indirect commodities (e.g. IT, Building/Construction, Industrial Supplies, energy/utlities, etc.)
- Experience of successfully managing and negotiating contracts
Skills and competencies:
- Negotiation skills
- Strong Knowledge of supply portfolio and market research and analysis
- Understanding of sourcing strategies and application (make or buy analysis,…)
- Purchasing financials skills, including data analytics, budgeting and savings calculation
- Deep understanding of business practices, market dynamics and trends
- Supplier relationship management experience
- Knowledge of contractual and legal aspects
- Drive, creativity and willingness to learn
- English fluent
- International minded
- Results oriented
- Strong interpersonal skills including written and oral communication skills
- Capacity to influence
