GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
The Turkish Accelerator and Radiation Laboratory (TARLA) is a nationally strategic user-oriented research infrastructure that accelerates an electron beam up to 40 MeV using superconducting accelerating cavities, enabling the production of Free Electron Laser (FEL) and Bremsstrahlung radiation.
The TARLA electron accelerator is currently in the commissioning phase. Installation of accelerator components along the beamline is nearing completion, while beam tests, system integration, and performance validation activities are being carried out intensively and in parallel. At the TARLA FEL facility, installation and testing of the electron accelerator systems are actively ongoing. TARLA’s scientific objectives primarily focus on materials science, nuclear physics, photochemical processes, photoactivation, biotechnology, nonlinear optics, and semiconductor research. As a unique research facility in Türkiye and the region, TARLA also aims to foster international scientific and technological collaborations.
In line with our vision to shape the future of science and technology together, we are seeking motivated, growth-oriented, and collaborative researchers who will contribute to the expanding and strengthening institutional structure of TARLA. In this context, we invite applications from experienced researchers to join the TARLA team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Conduct original, innovative, and internationally competitive research in at least one of TARLA’s research areas, including accelerator and beam physics, RF and superconducting RF systems, beam diagnostics, accelerator-based gamma spectroscopy, nuclear physics applications, radiation and detector systems, Free Electron Laser (TARLA-FEL)–based experiments and applications, radiation–matter interaction, and materials science.
· Develop project concepts and prepare and submit proposals within national and international funding programs, particularly EU Framework Programmes (Horizon Europe).
· Take active roles in funded projects as a researcher, work package leader, or project coordinator, and ensure effective planning, execution, and reporting of project activities.
· Perform experimental and/or theoretical research and disseminate results through scientific publications, technical reports, and presentations.
· Contribute to the research-oriented use of TARLA accelerator infrastructures; actively participate in experiment planning, data analysis, and result evaluation processes.
· Establish and strengthen international collaborations; participate in consortium meetings, workshops, and conferences.
· Collaborate with graduate students and early-career researchers, contributing to mentoring and supervision activities.
· Support strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing TARLA’s research capacity, visibility, and scientific impact.
