Embedded Linux Application Engineer
About Job
We are looking for an experienced engineer to join our team building embedded Linux–based devices and IoT solutions. You should have advanced command of the Linux ecosystem and be able to write production-quality applications in Python on resource-constrained devices. In this role you will primarily develop applications that run on embedded Linux devices, delivering optimized solutions that make efficient use of system resources.
- Develop applications in Python for embedded Linux–based devices; write object-oriented (OOP), modular, testable and maintainable code
- Design performance-focused applications that run on minimal Linux images and make efficient use of limited CPU / RAM / storage resources
- Correctly architect and optimize multitasking / concurrency scenarios (threads, processes, async, IPC)
- Drive the device's peripherals (GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, etc.) from software and integrate sensors / actuators
- Build and manage the on-device network layer: TCP/IP, socket programming, WebSocket (ws/wss) based real-time communication, protocols and connection management
- Develop performance-critical or hardware-near components in C when needed, and integrate them with the Python side
- Manage system services (systemd), logging and the device lifecycle
Embedded Linux
- Advanced command of the Linux ecosystem: process / thread management, filesystem hierarchy, IPC mechanisms, systemd, permission / user management
- Experience working on resource-constrained embedded devices (minimal rootfs, embedded Linux) with a strong sense of efficient resource usage
- System-level debugging and performance analysis (memory, CPU usage, bottleneck identification)
- Comfortable working in a shell / command-line environment
Python
- Advanced command of Python: standard libraries, third-party library usage and sound library selection
- Solid grasp of object-oriented design principles and a habit of writing clean, readable code
- Practical experience with concurrency (threading, multiprocessing, asyncio) and optimization
Peripherals & Networking
- Experience driving hardware peripherals (GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, ADC) from software
- Command of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, socket programming, WebSocket (ws/wss) communication, and basic network tools and troubleshooting
C
- Command of the C programming language; able to develop performance-critical or hardware-near layers
Nice to Have
- Experience building custom Linux images with Yocto / Buildroot
- Knowledge of cross-compilation and toolchain management
- Version control and CI/CD experience with Git / GitLab
- Basic experience with STM / ARM Cortex-M based MCUs (a plus for communicating with the hardware side)
- Experience with on-device remote management, logging and OTA update architectures
- Knowledge of IoT protocols such as MQTT and CoAP
- Experience with message queue / messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ, etc.
- Familiarity with OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) and CSMS (Charging Station Management System) architectures
