About the Role

Substation Commissioning Engineer 

Please apply only if you have substation commissioning experience as an electrical engineer, hold a valid driving licence, speak fluent English and willing to relocate to the United Kingdom.

Location: Stafford, United Kingdom

Required Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience

Level of Education: Minimum of a BSc in Electrical Engineering coupled with project/service-related experience

Languages: English (Fluent)

Military Service: No military obligation

Driving Licence: Must

Main Responsibilities

• To test and commission primary and secondary equipment in the substation to ensure electrical integrity and performance when energised onto clients’ networks.
• To ensure that all site commissioning activities are undertaken in full compliance with company and client policies and procedures, and UK legislation.
• To effectively manage and supervise staff in order to execute projects in line with client and company expectations, programmes and budget.
• To ensure accurate on-site commissioning RAMS, records, reports, quality documentation are created, filed and circulated in accordance with the company’s internal governance and company quality plans.
• To perform commissioning of substation protection system (protection IED’s, communication test, coordination with control engineer for signal testing) at customer sites onshore and offshore.
• To gain knowledge of new products and systems. Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognized industry standards for engineering ability.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a BSc in Electrical Engineering coupled with project/service-related experience. 
• Commissioning Engineer with experience in substations.
• Experience in Substation Protection Systems, working on technical support, testing, maintenance, commissioning in transmission, distribution, industrial and power plants environments.
• Knowledge and experience of working with main suppliers’ products of substation control equipment (such as ABB/Hitachi, Siemens, GE).
• Experience in working with test equipment such as Omicron CMC, CPC series and related accessories.
• Good command of English.
• Ability to use MS Office applications.
• Ability to travel to customer sites locally in the UK onshore and offshore.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• No military obligation.
