Director of Finance

We are currently seeking an experienced and commercially driven Director of Finance to join the Executive Committee at InterContinental Grand Ankara.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Director of Finance is responsible for leading all financial operations of the hotel, ensuring financial integrity, effective business partnering, regulatory compliance, and full alignment with IHG policies, corporate standards, and Turkish statutory requirements. This role provides strategic financial leadership to support sustainable business performance and long-term growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all day-to-day activities of the Finance Department, ensuring efficient, accurate, and compliant financial operations.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets, forecasts, and business plans within established deadlines.
  • Analyse financial performance, identify trends and variances, and provide commercial recommendations to improve profitability and operational results.
  • Partner closely with the General Manager and Executive Committee by providing financial insight to support strategic planning and business decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with IHG policies, IFRS where applicable, Turkish tax legislation, statutory reporting requirements, and internal control standards.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and continuously improve financial control procedures covering purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, inventory, and fixed assets.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely reconciliations and accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee cash flow, treasury functions, banking relationships, working capital, and liquidity management.
  • Ensure all tax declarations, statutory filings, licences, insurance requirements, and regulatory obligations are completed accurately and on time.
  • Review and approve financial transactions, journal entries, reconciliations, payroll submissions, purchase orders, and cash transfers within delegated authority.
  • Oversee billing, invoicing, collections, and credit management to ensure effective administration of accounts receivable.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities while driving cost efficiencies, process improvements, and sound financial governance.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and maintain effective relationships with auditors, banks, government authorities, and business partners.
  • Actively contribute as a member of the Executive Committee, supporting the achievement of the hotel’s strategic, financial, and operational objectives.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing Finance team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and talent development.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • A recognised professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent) is considered an advantage.
  • Significant leadership experience as a Director of Finance or in a senior Finance leadership role within an international hotel environment.
  • Previous pre-opening experience is preferred, while multi-property experience will be considered an advantage.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Turkish financial regulations, taxation, statutory reporting, accounting standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, business analysis, internal controls, and cash flow management.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to translate financial data into practical business strategies.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft is highly preferred. Experience with Opera PMS, SUN Systems, Hyperion, Delphi, Micros, or other hospitality systems is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Turkish.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
