Process Engineer

We are looking for a Process Engineer to join SIO Automotive and contribute to manufacturing process development, tooling design and continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or a related engineering field,

• Experience in manufacturing process development, tooling design and/or process improvement,

• Preferably experience in the automotive industry or high-volume serial production,

• Knowledge of machining processes and assembly operations,

• Ability to design tooling, jigs and fixtures and prepare detailed technical drawings,

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings,

• Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts and standard tooling components,

• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC and MSA,

• Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and Integrated Management System requirements,

• Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, including 5S, Kaizen and Poka-Yoke,

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills,

• Ability to coordinate cross-functional activities and work effectively in a team,

• Strong planning, time management and communication skills,

• A continuous improvement mindset and willingness to explore new manufacturing technologies,

• Proficiency in MS Office applications and experience with ERP systems,

• Good command of English; knowledge of German is considered an advantage.

Job Description

• Design and develop tooling, jigs and fixtures required for manufacturing operations, and prepare and update related technical drawings,

• Determine material and component requirements for tooling and fixtures and initiate purchase requisitions,

• Coordinate the manufacture of tooling, jigs and fixtures and prepare the required CAM programs,

• Verify the conformity of manufactured tooling and fixtures with design requirements and follow up on inspection activities,

• Monitor tooling and fixture performance during serial production and implement improvements where necessary,

• Determine cutting tool and insert requirements, contribute to tool design when needed and initiate purchase requisitions,

• Carry out improvement activities to enhance cutting tool performance, tool life and product quality,

• Design manufacturing processes and establish production routings for new product introductions,

• Review and update existing production routings, tooling designs and technical documentation following engineering changes,

• Maintain up-to-date process engineering documentation, including drawings, instructions, forms, routings and equipment lists,

• Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity, reduce manufacturing costs and improve quality,

• Investigate technical problems on the shop floor and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions,

• Evaluate the impact of engineering changes on manufacturing processes and coordinate the necessary updates,

• Research and develop new manufacturing methods and follow advances in production and tooling technologies,

• Contribute to the preparation of technical specifications for new machinery and equipment,

• Prepare and revise factory and production area layouts for review and approval,

• Participate in new product, process development and R&D projects,

• Support investigations and improvement activities related to customer complaints and process nonconformities,

• Incorporate occupational health and safety requirements into tooling, fixture and process designs,

• Support compliance with quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management system requirements,

• Work in coordination with Production, Quality, Maintenance, R&D, Purchasing and other relevant departments.
